Free Content Ideas: Don Quijote
Don Quijote (“dawn-kee-oh-tay”) also known as “Donki” to the Japanese, has been the latest trend that has gotten everyone buzzing. A Japanese discount store that sells a variety of products ranging from beauty to household items; very much like a fusion of Daiso and Mustafa Centre.
There are rumours that their flagship store, which is also the first in SEA, will open in Orchard very soon.
As part of our #FreeContentIdeas series, we came out with a couple of ideas which could help Don Quijote penetrate the SEA Market with a bang, so here goes!
1. Crowdsourcing Campaign on Social Media
It is important to establish customer relationships, hence we suggest getting customers and potential customers involved. One of the easiest ways to start would be via a giveaway contest (Everyone loves a good giveaway!).
Customers can vote for their favourite item in the comments section or post with a dedicated hashtag on social media. The most creative responses will then be rewarded with attractive prizes. An example would be Uber’s recent voting campaign for the wackiest promotion code idea.
2. Scavenger Hunt
Don Quijote can also engage in-store customers by surprising them with a scavenger hunt! Similar to Ellen Degeneres’ scavenger hunt, customers who can find the named items first will be able to win prizes.
3. Celebrity/Influencer to discuss Don Quijote’s products
Tapping on the rising trend of influencer marketing, Don Quijote can get celebrities or influencers to discuss and showcase the variety of unique in-store products. The tried and tested channel on Clicknetwork.tv hosted by Oon Shu An would be a good example.
