Free Content Ideas: Coconut Water Brands
When I first started out with digital marketing, one issue I faced while doing research is that most marketing blogs tend to share articles with rather generic ideas. Often, these ideas are derived from Fortune 500 brands with massive marketing budgets, which can be feasible only if you have a Fortune 500 marketing budget.
Inspired to do something fun to address this issue, I’ve come up with this series called #FreeContentIdeas where I will dive into very specific brand segments and suggest some top-line ideas which are feasible for brands to include into their content mix even without a massive budget. First up is one of my favourite beverages, coconut water!
The coconut water market has seen tremendous growth in the last couple of years, and just by walking to the supermarket or doing online grocery shopping, you’ll come across a myriad of coconut water brands.
Personally, I have a hard time remembering the brand of coconut water that my wife buys from the supermarket and with so many coconut water brands out there, how does one stand out?
The various brands of coconut water pretty much taste the same and have the same health benefits, so there’s not much of a unique selling point to shout about. I strongly feel that the key to winning more mindshare is the inclusion of exceptional and memorable value-driven content within the brand’s marketing mix. Here are some ideas!
Develop entertaining fun facts
By doing a search, there are actually quite a number of fun facts about coconut water, but the thing about fun-fact content is that many brands have already done it to death, and most of them don’t even seem fun at all. To stand out you have to make the content fun and entertaining, a good example would be this video by BuzzFeed.
Get a Celebrity/Influencer to Discuss the Health Benefits of Coconut Water
Coconut water is known to have multiple health benefits, and an effectively way to showcase this is to engage a celebrity/influencer to talk about it! With so many health-conscious celebs/influencers around, there shouldn’t be a problem finding one who loves drinking coconut water and getting them to endorse the brand (without having to break the bank). Someone like health & fitness blogger Fay Hokulani would be a great fit!
1-Min Video Recipes
You have probably seen some of these lovely 1-min videos on the Tasty Facebook Page and due to the enticing nature of such videos; they are usually very shareable and receives tonnes of video views. With the same concept, how about whipping up tasty desserts or cocktail drinks with coconut water?
Coconut Cutting Session on Facebook LIVE
Cutting a coconut might have nothing much to do with the actual product but watching someone cut a coconut has an oddly satisfying effect. Engage an expert and simply stream them on Facebook LIVE cutting a coconut! Substantial engagement is most likely guaranteed for such content. And if there is enough budget, how about sending someone to video-record the cutting of coconuts all over the world?
